Travis and Linda Tomlinson

Taswell 44

Travis and Linda Tomlinson hail from Raleigh, NC. They met 41 years ago at nearby Kerr Lake, where Travis was a park ranger and Linda was vacationing. These days, Linda is an interior decorator, and Travis runs a nursing home that has been in the family for over 50 years.

The Boat:

CONTESSA is a beautiful, dark-blue 1998 Taswell 44 raised saloon that Travis and Linda bought last year. They enjoyed sailing Ragamuffin, a Pearson 424, for 23 years, but were looking for increased cruising comfort.

Favorite Cruising Destination:

Travis and Linda keep Contessa on the Corrotoman, off the Rappahannock. Favorite destinations include Oxford, MD, and the Beaufort/Cape Lookout area. In the future, they’d like to sail her to Bermuda or the Bahamas, perhaps taking part in the Caribbean 1500 Rally.

Reason for Boatyard Stop:

I’ve been coming to ZMI for 15 years, the first 14 with Ragamuffin, and this year with CONTESSA. Because she’s new to us, we had ZMI assess her overall condition, from which we created a multi-season
maintenance and upgrade plan.“

Why Zimmerman Marine?:

“I continue to choose ZMI because they are extremely thorough and competent, and I get good value. When I leave, I know that everything has been checked, and works well, and that they have identified potential future problems so that we can include them in our plan.”
