CANDOR, a 1991 Willard 40

Michael Zimmers, retired commercial airline pilot, age 61. Enjoys cooking, classical music (cruises with Mozart the cat), and riding on his Honda Shadow when he’s not out on the water.

The Boat:

CANDOR, a 1991 Willard 40, purchased 5 years ago. "I named the boat CANDOR because I like
things that are up front and honest, and this boat certainly comes across that way. I was moving from sail to power and wanted a fuel efficient boat that would be well suited for cruising US and Canadian canals."

Favorite Cruising Destination:

"Charleston, South Carolina, and Lake Superior. And Prince Edward Island. And French Canada in general..."

Reason for Boatyard Stop:

"I cruise 6,000 miles a year and this stop takes care of most of my annual maintenance needs. The yard serviced my engine, generator, stabilizers, and bow thruster, rebuilt my transmission and reconditioned my prop."

Why Zimmerman Marine?:

"This is my tenth trip to Zimmerman Marine. I like the culture here. Not just their expertise and skill, but the way they treat their employees. That’s important to me."
