May 15, 2008: ZMI Opens Second Location
On July 1, 2008, Zimmerman Marine will be opening a second location at Norview Marina on Broad Creek in Deltaville, VA. A new 75 ton Marine Travelift will be in place by September.
ZMI President Steve Zimmerman cited several reasons for the move: “Norview Marina has a great location – close to over 2,000 boats and easily accessible from the Bay. Norview’s proximity to so many locally owned boats will enable us to offer our services to boat owners who would have been inconvenienced by traveling to our Mathews location for service work.”
In addition, the new facility has a service building with 36 foot high doors and a high capacity lift slip. Zimmerman added that the “new lift and high service bays will also allow us to haul and service larger transient boats, at an easily accessible location.”
Ernie Asaff, Managing Partner of Norview Marina, added: “We are very happy to welcome ZMI to Norview and to Deltaville. Steve and ZMI have a reputation throughout the Bay and, indeed, the east coast, for extremely high quality work, and outstanding customer service.”

Feb. 17, 2005: Z36 For Weems and Plath
Zimmerman Marine has started construction of a Z36 cruiser for Weems & Plath, manufacturers of fine nautical instruments including navigation tools, binoculars, log books, brass clocks and barometers, lamps and compasses. “We are very proud that a company like Weems and Plath chose Zimmerman Marine as their builder. Weems and Plath has a rich maritime history, a reputation for high quality marine products, and a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of yachts,” commented Steve Zimmerman, President.
The yacht will be named BEE WEEMS after Weems & Plath founder’s youngest son. Bee Weems was a highly decorated Navy Pilot who died doing what he loved, flying for the US Navy. Bee was passionate about navigation, as was his father. This passion and the high standards set by the Weems family are still an inspiration to the company today after 77 years in business. Weems & Plath searched for a boat manufacturer with the same kind of passion and commitment to quality and found that the people at Zimmerman Marine build an exceptional yacht and hold themselves accountable to that same high standard.
The BEE WEEMS will be used by Weems & Plath to showcase and demonstrate Weems & Plath products, and to train staff and dealers. The BEE WEEMS will also give employees a venue to meet with boating customers to obtain feedback about Weems & Plath products.
Weems & Plath plans to move the boat to several different boating areas including: the Chesapeake Bay, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, Long Island Sound, New England, the Hudson River and associated canals, the Great Lakes, the Puget Sound, British Columbia and Alaska’s Inside Passage. “The Zimmerman Marine 36 is quiet, fuel efficient, safe, handsome, comfortable for months at a time, easy to operate, and is easily trucked making it the ideal boat for Weems & Plath,” said Peter Trogdon, President.
Launching is schedule for September 2005. Bee Weems will be displayed at the Annapolis Boat Show in October.
